Watercolor Painting | Pretty Posies Mankind is like a garden of blossoming wild flowers, beautiful as a whole, yet stunning with its unique parts and individual differences. May we continually see the beauty created by our differences and love with open arms. My watercolor study of Danielle Donaldson’s art.

Mixed Media Painting | Blossoms of Light   Kindness intoxicates, its aroma smelling of unconditional love while its beauty rivals the most verdant of blossoming flowers. May we choose today to be intentional in our thoughts and actions as we live out lives of kindness.

Mixed Media Painting | French Roses There are moments when I layer prose into my paintings. Amidst the layers of ephemera, inks, watercolors, and acrylics, I nestle words of encouragement, whispers of hope, and expressions of gratitude. I like the idea of hiding within each piece of art, a secret letter of love, that maybe some will see and others will feel. I scrawl my thoughts in French, since it’s considered the… Read More

Maltese | Lily Belle as My Little Pony I giggle. Seriously. This poochini brings me tremendous joy and laughter. When my daughter and I picked her up from the groomers yesterday and discovered her ombre ears/tail and green painted toenails, you can only imagine our wide smiles and peels of laughter. “My little pony!” said my daughter with obvious admiration. “Yup, we have a live one!” I responded. I can hardly take the cuteness of my Lily… Read More

Watercolor Painting | Pink Fairy Scribbles and scratches. I’ve reopened my children’s books and am editing like crazy…always editing it seems. For me, taking a short break from writing often means doing something else creative, like watercolor painting. The activity seems to feed the ideas that swirl though my mind. This girl is scribbled and scratched, almost as an afterthought, but within her there is light, love, and a little magic. Stories,… Read More

Maltese | Lily Belle Lily Belle casts a ray of sunshine in our family. She soothes tears, inspires laughter, and spreads a whole lot of love with her unwavering loyalty and wet doggy kisses.  She boldly sports hot-pink tipped ears as well as a matching fuzzy matching hair bow. Just looking at her makes me smile. May she brighten your day as well. (Click on thumbnail for full-resolution image)

Mixed Media Painting | Magical Girl She breathed hope like fairy dust And danced On the wind. (Click on thumbnail for full-resolution image)

Watercolor Rhododendrons Glazing washes of watercolor (the art of grisaille) involves layering translucent colors to create a range of values that glow. If that sounds easy, guess again.  There are days that I feel blind, like a child trying to make sense of letters on a page while learning to read. In truth, I am training my brain to see beyond the obvious, in hopes of interpreting the shadows and tones to enhance the light. Oh to attend a watercolor… Read More

Chloe grew out of the newsboy hat I made her two years ago, so I made her a new one. We went for raspberry pink since it matched her bitty baby’s hat. She picked a large flower for the side and we added a vintage button. The other side. Soft white cotton jersey offers a soft band around her little head.  The inside fabric coordinates with the outside flower.  Hearts and Love. She loves… Read More
