My daughter and I tackled another mixed media painting together, after she asked me to paint her a second puppy portrait to place on her bedroom wall. She drew this image over top of a mixed media, ephemera-rich background. I used inks, Caran C’ache Neocolor 2 crayons, golden acrylic paints, Winsor Newton Oil Bars, oil pastels, Posca Pens, Gelatos, and a Stabillo pencil to complete this look.  We both like how she… Read More

My daughter and I collaborated on this painting. She drew the puppy which I then painted using inks, acrylics, gelatos, neocolor 2’s, oil pastels, and oil paints. Her excitement as she watched it come to life was contagious. We will have to do it again.

I giggle. Seriously. This poochini brings me tremendous joy and laughter. When my daughter and I picked her up from the groomers yesterday and discovered her ombre ears/tail and green painted toenails, you can only imagine our wide smiles and peels of laughter. “My little pony!” said my daughter with obvious admiration. “Yup, we have a live one!” I responded. I can hardly take the cuteness of my Lily Belle. Hehe!

Lily Belle casts a ray of sunshine in our family. She soothes tears, inspires laughter, and spreads a whole lot of love with her unwavering loyalty and wet doggy kisses.  She boldly sports hot-pink tipped ears as well as a matching fuzzy matching hair bow. Just looking at her makes me smile. May she brighten your day as well.

I followed a Danielle Donaldson tutorial to create this card, which combined my creative hobby loves – watercolor painting, sewing, and mixed media layering. It was fun! And through it all, I… Read More

The Neverending Story was one of my favorite movies as a child. In it, a bullied boy named Bastian, flees to his school attic to escapes the worries of his life. He enters a book and through that, the world Fantasia, which is in dire need of a hero and savior. Bastian learns to overcome his fear and triumphs in saving the land. Having experienced some bullying in middle school, I related to this story on many levels. And… Read More

My daughter has spent the last several months begging me to make Lily (our Maltese puppy) a princess dress. We’ve perused countless Etsy websites, sewing blogs, and pattern sites together, looking for just the right outfit.   When we stumbled across Julie Ahn’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/julie.ahn.129  we were both captivated by her designs.  Julie is an incredibly talented Korean artisan who designs the loveliest dresses for small show dogs.  My daughter was delighted and immediately suggested that I make Lily an outfit just like hers.  The… Read More
